- Defined architecture and release plan for a new CDP, delivering the MVP in Go with a team of 5
- Co-drove a strategic pivot to AI-powered code generation after a company-wide hackathon validated the market opportunity
- Led the stack migration from Go to Bun/TypeScript, significantly accelerating development velocity

- Proposed and executed merger of Backend and GIS teams, shortening delivery cycles by eliminating cross-team dependencies
- Refactored the payment system, reducing payment-related bugs from daily incidents to near zero

- Led ~10 engineers across backend, frontend, and QA on the core energy comparison platform — the company’s primary revenue product and reason for the Energylinx acquisition
- Ran a 3–6 month exploration of UK car insurance market — delivered domain models and POCs that determined the sector was not viable, saving the company from a costly long-term investment

2015 – 2020
- Hired to lead the migration of a legacy PHP system to Python — delivered a full rewrite that became the foundation for all subsequent development
- Developed B2B APIs for the UK energy savings market including domestic and business switching
- Built whitelabel capabilities enabling partner-branded energy comparison services
- Migrated infrastructure from on-premises to AWS
- Built an early microservice in Go

Gradual progression from fullstack development to infrastructure and DevOps in a team of 6.
- Maintained physical server infrastructure in data centers, designing systems with failover capability
- Replaced a failed F5 hardware load balancer overnight with an Nginx-based proxy — later enhanced it into the team’s primary load balancing solution

One of the first Docker-based hosting platforms in Czech-Slovakia — in production before the ecosystem tooling existed.
- Co-founded and built a hosting platform on Docker, offering SSH access, isolated environments, and multi-language support at a time when competitors only offered PHP/Apache/MySQL
- Grew to hundreds of paying customers
- Built custom orchestration tooling in Python and Go since Docker ecosystem tools didn’t exist yet
2006 – 2013

Personal finance portal — articles, calculators, and guides about money, investment, and the Czech economy.
- Built from zero to ~3–5K unique daily visitors through SEO and content strategy in the pre-social-media era
- Migrated from PHP to Python/Django to accelerate feature delivery
- Sold the project three times — each new owner brought me back to lead the product and development
- Still operational today
Beyond Work
When I'm not writing code or leading teams, you'll find me with my hands in dough or in the garden. I bake bread, grow vegetables, and spend weekends wandering with a camera. Photography is how I slow down — mostly street and landscape, always in black and white.
